Eline Jaktevik, Senior Research Manager

Eline is a senior research manager, ensuring that outputs are delivered on time, to budget and to specification. Since joining The Research Base in 2015, she has worked on several of The Research Base’s projects with the British Council in South Asia, including being the lead researcher on a multi-year evaluation of the Pudumai Palli Project in Chennai, India and an evaluation of the Connecting Classrooms programme in Bangladesh. She has also recently conducted fieldwork for the British Council’s English and Digital for Girls’ Education (EDGE) programme in Nepal and Bangladesh.

Eline has expertise in both quantitative and qualitative design, delivery and analysis, with a particular focus on developing innovative and inclusive research methods with hard to reach groups and participants with additional needs. She is experienced in delivering interviews and focus groups in different settings and with a wide range of stakeholders, from children and young people, to senior government officials.

Eline is also skilled in training local research teams to deliver surveys, interviews and focus groups according to the project design. Experience includes training teams of local researchers in Hungary and Bulgaria for an evaluation on behalf of SOS Children’s Villages. She is currently working with local researchers in Rwanda as the lead researcher for an evaluation of a VVOB programme, which aims to enhance school leadership and strengthen continuing professional development for teachers in secondary schools across the country.

Prior to coming to the The Research Base, Eline was a Parliamentary Assistant for Baroness Denise Kingsmill in the House of Lords, where she researched the education, training and career progression of adult social care workers for an independent review. She holds degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of Manchester.
