Emily Hayler, Researcher
Emily is a professional researcher with a strong interest in social research. Her background is in Middle Eastern studies and law, with interests in education, migration and human rights.
Since joining The Research Base in 2017, Emily has worked on a number of projects involving qualitative and quantitative data analysis, comprehensive literature and desk reviews, focus group and interview discussion guide development, stakeholder mapping and report writing for clients such as the British Council, Health Education England and the Education Development Trust.
In an evaluation for the British Council’s Connecting Classrooms Programme in Bangladesh, which aims to help young people develop the knowledge, core skills and values to live and work in a globalised economy, Emily's responsibilities included analysing quantitative and qualitative data, and writing up survey analysis for inclusion in the final report.
Emily was also involved in carrying out a comprehensive review of digital literacy education and training in the health and care sector, for Health Education England. This involved a desk review; focus group discussion guide development; focus group attendance; analysis of qualitative and quantitative data; writing up analysis; and proof-reading and editing the final report.
She has a Graduate Diploma in Law (Commendation) from the University of Law, a BA in Islamic Studies from SOAS, and has language skills in Italian, French, Spanish and Arabic.
